The Ellsworth Public Library is pleased to offer free museum passes in co-operation with a number of museums and organisations in Downeast Maine.
To reserve museum passes you need a patron card in good standing.
If you don’t have a card, all you need to sign up and open an account is a document with your name and current mailing address.
Passes are available for the following museums:
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (located in Boothbay, open May 1-Oct 22)
- The pass entitles the holder to FREE admission to the Gardens for one visit per month, 1-2 adults and their children under age 18.
- Passes may be reserved up to one month in advance.

- This pass is provided by the Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library in memory of Jerry Kaufman.
Farnsworth Art Museum (located in Rockland)
- The pass entitles the holder to FREE admission to the museum for one visit per month. 4 adult passes available per day. Children 16 and under have FREE admission.
- Passes may be reserved up to one month in advance.

- This pass is provided by the Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library in memory of Jerry Kaufman.
Maine Discovery Museum (located in Bangor)
- The pass must be picked up on the day it will be used.
- Reservations are not allowed for these passes. They are distributed on a “first come, first served” basis.
- The pass entitles the holder to FREE admission to the Maine Discovery Museum for two visits per day of up to four people OR one visit per day of up to eight people. Please check with a librarian about the current number of passes available for that day.
- Patrons may take out the pass once per month.
- This pass is provided by a donation from the Rotary Club of Ellsworth with a second pass provided by the Friends of the Library.

Maine Maritime Museum (located in Bath)
- The pass entitles the holder to FREE admission to the Maine Maritime Museum for one visit per day of up to eight people, age 17 and under are free.
- Passes may be reserved up to one month in advance.

- This pass is provided by the Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library in memory of Jerry Kaufman.
The Oceanarium (located in Bar Harbor, open May 15-Oct 27)
- The pass entitles the holder to FREE admission to the Oceanarium for one visit per month. Children under the age of 3 and adults 90 years and older have FREE admission.
- The pass must be picked up on the day it will be used and returned by library opening hours the next day. The pass for Sunday may be given out on Saturday because The Oceanarium is open on Sunday but the library is not.
- Passes may be reserved up to one month in advance.
